Update about Kindergarten

Well, the past month has flown. I feel like I've been running from think to thing, with hardly a chance to rest.
The most notable (and most emotionally draining) has been things deteriorating with Evan at school. It started in late October, Evan got a yucky cold, and was pretty out of sorts at home. Then, it was Halloween. After trick or treating, we sorted out all of the wheat-free, dairy-free candy. Then, like many parents, we let Evan chow down on his candy for about half an hour. I don't think most kids react this way, but whether it was too much the red dye, or corn syrup, or just too much sugar for his poor sensitive system- he was completely out of control. Things were awful at school the next week. Phone calls. Things were bad at church too. The Primary Program was the Sunday after Halloween. Evan had to be carried down off the stand because he couldn't/wouldn't stop pulling his teachers ear and tweaking her nose. (The year before he'd been fine in the program.) It was like all of his impulse control was gone.
We felt pretty desperate. Nathan's mom came and did come naturopathic food sensitivity testing (that's helped in the past). So, we altered his diet, and on the reccommendation of a friend, started taking him to a chiropractor. (It seemed worth a try, and a reletively harmless alternative, since his teacher was starting to talk about psychologist visits, etc.) Between those diet changes and chiropractor, he seemed to settle down at home (at least back to his usual self). Things were a bit better at school, but now his teacher was watching him closely, and at least every other day finding concerning behavior to report to me.
It's amazing how one call from a kindergarten teacher can put a lump in the pit of my stomach!
